While some waterfalls are off trail and not easily accessible, many spectacular waterfalls have easy access points and or overlooks. The following are brief descriptions of the Smokies hottest waterfalls. Please pick up a duplicate of the park’s official trail map from any visitor middle before hitting the trail to these waterfalls. Additional details about hiking to waterfalls may be present in varied publications obtainable at bookstores in the park. As the floods in this vicinity raced southward, two major waterfalls fashioned alongside their course. The larger was that of the higher coulee, where the river roared over an 800-foot cliff.
